Safe Storage Sunscreen

Alex Crosher
Description

My Major Design Project focuses on providing a safe and simple way of storing your valuables inconspicuously whilst you are at the beach. This was achieved through the gradual development of a small container disguised as a sunscreen bottle. This allows your valuables to be hidden in plain sight, avoiding any potential losses to theft.

Camper Conversion

Finn Donald
Description

For my Major Design Project I aimed to convert a Tarago van into a usable camper. I removed the third row of seats and made a storage compartment in its place. I bolted in place to the rails where the seats were connected. The second row of seats fold down and the mattress support is secured over the top of the seats which is connected to the storage compartment below. I chose a Tarago as my vehicle of choice for its affordability, reliability and safety features. The camper easily converts back to a normal car by unscrewing the mattress board sliding it onto the storage compartment and folding the second row seats back in place.

Self Watering Aquaponic Garden

Jannah Pittman

Description

My Major Design Project was to develop a garden that unites aquaponics, while being a space saving, allowing for those simple usability and convenience. The design incorporated a watering system, simultaneously filtering the water and reducing water loss. This also allows for people with limited time for gardening.

Car Racing Simulator

Kayden Van Onselen

Description

For my Major Design Project I aimed to create a low cost entry level car racing simulator. Existing designs were identified as being far too expensive for beginners. The frame was made from easily purchased materials and 3D printed connectors. The seat mechanism allowed for simple adjustments to the pre-purchased seat.

Affordable Beginner-Friendly Cello

Lauren Irvine

Description

My Major Design Project is an ‘Affordable beginner friendly cello’. Instruments can be too expensive for beginner musicians to afford, especially when buying for your kids and you’re not sure if they’re even gonna like it or be good at it. Cello’s are exceptionally expensive starting at around $1000 if you’re lucky. I have created a cello that is drastically cheaper, still functioning well and considers the needs of a beginner musician. An extra feature to this cello is the LED lighting with a remote control. This allows users to change the colour of the cello to their liking.

Food Safety Cheese Platter

Regan Swaine

Description

For my Major Design Project, I identified a food safety problem. The solution was to design and make a cheese platter that could contain different cheese platter food items and store them in a safe and convenient way. My mother hinted that this would be a good Idea as I was struggling to find a common need or problem to solve. I focused greatly on how to separate the different ingredients by vacuum forming compartments and an area to contain an ice brick. The compartments helps stop cross contamination while the ice compartment keeps the foods chilled.

Space Saver Furniture

Stephen Soper

Description

The need that I have identified for my Major Design Project is the lack of space for large furniture in small apartment living. My design would cater to people either living in or thinking about moving into a small living space. My solution to this problem is to make a piece of multifunctioning furniture that can be used as both a table and a drawer set. This compresses 2 large pieces of furniture into one handy product.

Eco Friendly Multi Function Table

Thanks Hamisi

Description

For my Major Design Project I identified plastic bags as a major problem for the environment and aimed to find an alternative use for them. I aimed to incorporate the use of plastic bags as a substitution to current materials and develop a design to showcase this. This would provide a way to empower people with choice by providing an alternative material that contributes to the environment. I would like to incorporate plastic bags as a substitute for wood and incorporate this into an innovative table design. The table uses the plastic bags product as planks in the table top. The table is space saving for small living spaces and includes foldable table tops and drawer storage.

Mobile Phone Safety Campaign

Kye Horton

Description

The goal of my Major Design Project was to create a campaign which encourages people to stop using their phone while driving. This campaign has a website which is well integrated with videos and a quiz. I wanted to make a difference in the world for my MDP and come up with a concept that could be taken to the next step by potentially another company.
