Course Description

This two year course analyses the Australian hospitality industry in fine detail through the lense of food and beverage. This course is competency based learning and can be counted towards your ATAR if you choose to do the optional HSC exam. The Certificate II in Hospitality (Food & Beverage) will give you a second credential along with your HSC. This qualification is recognised nationally and would be very beneficial in gaining employment post school in the hospitality industry. You will learn many practical and service skills throughout this course from sandwich, salad and cookery skills to communication and food hygiene practices.

What do you do in this course?

In Hospitality you will learn a wide variety of cooking and beverage making skills. You will participate in 2 work placements in the hospitality industry as part of your training. Throughout the course you will run school based cafes, coffee shops and cater several events.

How can this course help you in the future?

This qualification provides a pathway to work in various hospitality settings, such as restaurants, hotels, motels, catering operations, clubs, cafes and coffee shops. Possible job titles include café attendant, catering assistance, food and beverage attendant, barista, front office assistant, porter and room attendant.
