For my major Design project, I wanted to solve the problem of cars and bumpers being damaged by the increasing height of speed humps and scraping on driveways without impacting the aesthetics of the car. The product I have designed is easy to install, protects the underside of the bumper and is almost invisible.
Universal Phone Case and Appliances
I wanted to create a project that fulfils the need of holding a person’s mobile device, in ergonomically or functionally difficult situations. My major design project is a universal phone case, plus its appliances. The major feature of my project is the way in which the phone case transitions between the appliances, which is via magnetic attraction. This allows for the phone case to easily be attached, detached and reattached between the appliances as the user goes through their daily use of their phone.
For my Major Design Project I choose to develop a wearable footwear location tracker. Which aims to provide a sense of security for the families and guardians of individuals who may be suffering from a mental or physical disability. The product includes a sleek, minimalistic and innovative design which attaches to an individual’s footwear via a durable lacing system. To utilise current technologies the device includes a variety of 3D printed and laser-cut pieces, all with the aim of increasing the final products aesthetics and durability. The goal of my project is to create peace of mind for families and expand a currently largely untapped market.
For my major project I have created an app that aims to improve the quality of life for patients with Alzheimer’s disease as well as their caregivers and family. This app provides various features that allow patients to record and listen to past conversations, view profiles of their family and friends that store their memories and past interactions, navigate through their daily routine with ease and much more. These functions have all been implemented with a classic and simplified design to provide easy navigation and ease of use, along with a subtle and welcoming aesthetic.
Mobile Phone Safety Campaign
The goal of my Major Design Project was to create a campaign which encourages people to stop using their phone while driving. This campaign has a website which is well integrated with videos and a quiz. I wanted to make a difference in the world for my MDP and come up with a concept that could be taken to the next step by potentially another company.
Eco Friendly Multi Function Table
For my Major Design Project I identified plastic bags as a major problem for the environment and aimed to find an alternative use for them. I aimed to incorporate the use of plastic bags as a substitution to current materials and develop a design to showcase this. This would provide a way to empower people with choice by providing an alternative material that contributes to the environment. I would like to incorporate plastic bags as a substitute for wood and incorporate this into an innovative table design. The table uses the plastic bags product as planks in the table top. The table is space saving for small living spaces and includes foldable table tops and drawer storage.
Space Saver Furniture
The need that I have identified for my Major Design Project is the lack of space for large furniture in small apartment living. My design would cater to people either living in or thinking about moving into a small living space. My solution to this problem is to make a piece of multi-functioning furniture that can be used as both a table and a drawer set. This compresses 2 large pieces of furniture into one handy product.
Food Safety Cheese Platter
For my Major Design Project, I identified a food safety problem. The solution was to design and make a cheese platter that could contain different cheese platter food items and store them in a safe and convenient way. My mother hinted that this would be a good Idea as I was struggling to find a common need or problem to solve. I focused greatly on how to separate the different ingredients by vacuum forming compartments and an area to contain an ice brick. The compartments helps stop cross contamination while the ice compartment keeps the foods chilled.
Affordable Beginner-Friendly Cello
My Major Design Project is an ‘Affordable beginner friendly cello’. Instruments can be too expensive for beginner musicians to afford, especially when buying for your kids and you’re not sure if they’re even gonna like it or be good at it. Cello’s are exceptionally expensive starting at around $1000 if you’re lucky. I have created a cello that is drastically cheaper, still functioning well and considers the needs of a beginner musician. An extra feature to this cello is the LED lighting with a remote control. This allows users to change the colour of the cello to their liking.

Car Racing Simulator
For my Major Design Project I aimed to create a low cost entry level car racing simulator. Existing designs were identified as being far too expensive for beginners. The frame was made from easily purchased materials and 3D printed connectors. The seat mechanism allowed for simple adjustments to the pre-purchased seat.
