Welcome back to Belmont Christian College for 2020. We especially want to welcome our new families joining our community this year. We hope you enjoyed your holiday break with family and friends and are ready for another College year.
The beginning of the year means there is a lot happening at the College. This email provides helpful information to get you started in 2020.
Our College website is a great place to visit for all things BCC. Make sure you check out the new Uniform page, along with our Community Hub. There is always so much going on over at our College Facebook Page and Instagram account.
Beginners, Years 1 – 7, 11 & 12 return 8.40am on Tuesday, 28th January. Primary will meet in the assembly area. New Primary families will meet in the College office at 9.30am. Year 7 will meet in the Multi-Purpose Building (hall), Year 11 and 12 will meet in the Library.
Kindergarten, Year 8, 9 & 10 return 8.40am on Wednesday, 29th January. Kindergarten will meet in their classroom at their scheduled time. Year 8 will meet in the Multi-Purpose Building. Year 9 and 10 will meet in the Library Theatrette.
New families and Kindergarten Parents are welcome to stay for morning tea outside the Canteen on both Tuesday and Wednesday. This is a nice opportunity to connect with our community.

Kindergarten and Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2) students will be provided with classroom stationery. This includes coloured and led pencils, scissors, textas, pencil cases etc. All exercise books will be provided.
For Stage 2 (Years 3 and 4) and Stage 3 (Years 5and 6), we ask parents that students bring the following to use in class:

The Secondary School has a new starting time for 2020. The first bell for Period 1 (which includes Roll Call) will ring at 8.40am.
Students will need to have a fully charged College issued Chromebook and a pencil case of pens, pencils, eraser, highlighter etc. A calculator is provided for Year 7 ONLY and everything else is provided in their book packs issued on their first day.

Belmont Christian College has partnered with FACTS to give you more payment options and greater flexibility to break up your payments over the course of the year. Make your tuition payments more manageable, in your time, and from wherever you happen to be. Details about sign up will be available soon.
Canteen service is available each day of the school week. Our Term 1 Canteen menu can be found here or is also available from the Canteen, the College Office and on the Skoolbag App.
When ordering lunch for your child, write their name and class clearly on a paper lunch bag. Write the order on the outside of the bag and, if possible, enclose the correct change. Lunch orders should be placed in the Lunch Order Box at the rear of the canteen by 9am. Lunch orders can also be placed on-line by registering at  MunchMonitor using code: belmontcc and password: munch2280.
Parent volunteers are essential for the functioning of the canteen. Please contact the canteen on 4922 8346 if you would like to help.
Welcome to 2020! We are so pleased with the exciting opportunities available in our co-curricular music this year.
Firstly, introducing our new Music Ensembles Tutor, Mr Glenn Seddon. Glenn comes with a wealth of experience and excellence in music, including playing piano on TV and in some of the most preeminent venues in Sydney. He has lectured at tertiary level in jazz, aural and harmony. His passion is to see his students grow in their instrument skills, learning about God’s beautiful gift of music. Glenn is also the Senior Pastor at Swansea C3. He will be taking our Concert Bands and is our Music Director for this year’s Secondary Musical, Peter Pan.

All new applications and updated information need to be completed online. The application will be endorsed by the College and then the Opal Card is mailed directly to the address provided on the application.
In response to the needs of our College community, we are excited to announce that a before school care program will commence on Tuesday, 28th January 2020. From 7.00am to 8.40am each school day.

Parents/Caregivers have many opportunities to assist the College in a variety of ways. Opportunities for parent/caregiver help include sports coaching, community garden, working bees, canteen and excursion. Notices requesting help regularly appear in the College Newsletter.
Please note that all volunteers who assist at the College must undertake and provide to the College Office a current ‘Working with Children Check’ and complete a Volunteer Booklet which is available at the Office.
If your child has a medical action plan, please contact the Administration Assistant for your Primary or Secondary school student at the College Office so that the management plan can be implemented or updated for your child.

Our Swimming Carnivals are coming up in Week 2 of Term 1. Our Secondary School (Years 7 – 12) will be held on Tuesday, 4th February and our Primary School (Years 3 – 6) will be held on Thursday, 6th February both at Charlestown Pool from 8.30am.
Students are required to make their own way to the pool. College buses will be running from the College with limited seating for those who cannot make their own way to and from the pool. If you wish for your child to catch a College bus, have them place their name on the bus rolls at the office.
The finish time for the carnival is approximately 2:20pm – please arrange pick up by 2:30pm. If this isn’t possible have your child catch the bus back to the College to enable them to catch their normal school bus home.
Cancellation due to inclement weather will be advised through the Skoolbag app & Rhema FM or by calling the College office after 8am.

We have the absolute privilege of working with students who will benefit from extra support – whether that be through assisting with areas that need further development, or facilitating opportunities for students to explore and strengthen areas of giftedness, enabling them to flourish.
Students with particular needs that may affect learning are supported by our Student Services staff in a variety of ways, which may include small-group withdrawal lessons, in-class support and/or one-to-one support. Student Services staff can be contacted if you have concerns about your child’s educational needs.

If your child has a wellbeing concern their Connect Teacher should be the first contact for assistance. Stage Leaders and the College Counsellor are also available. Mrs Liz Roberts, our Counsellor, can be contacted on 4922 8354.
In addition, extension and enrichment is provided to students through our Student Services Department. We seek to develop the gifts of individual students using a variety of strategies that may also include acceleration. Enquiries regarding programs for enrichment should be directed to the Head of Student Services and Wellbeing, Mrs Bronwyn Rappeneker on 4922 8300.
College uniforms are provided by our uniform partner, Alinta Apparel. To make an on-site fitting appointment, review prices or place an order online, create an account with Alinta Apparel here.
All changes to College uniform come into effect this year. All old crest logo items will be phased out fully by the start of 2020 with the exception of Year 12 shirts in 2020, school bags and items with the ‘BCC’ embroidery eg formal shirts, sport shorts, sport pants, wet weather jackets.
Therefore, all Secondary girls in Years 7 to 12 will wear the grey skirt all year round. All Secondary boys in Years 7 to 12 will wear grey shorts in summer and grey pants in winter.
All Senior Secondary students in Years 11 and 12 will wear a white shirt or blouse. The current blue shirt or blouse may only be worn as an alternative for those in Year 12 in 2020. Students commencing Year 11 in 2020 will wear a white shirt or blouse.
Socks: All boys K-12 will wear grey BCC striped socks, and girls K-12 will wear new white BCC striped socks.
