Inter-School Sport for the remainder of 2020

The CSSA Committee of Management met recently to make a decision on CSSA State Events for the rest of the year.

Due to the continued restrictions on large inter-school sporting events ALL CSSA STATE EVENTS have been CANCELLED for TERM 3 and TERM 4 2020.

Confirmation of events CANCELLED are:

Term 3 State Events

·       Secondary 15&U State Oztag GD – Wednesday, 26th August 2020
·       Secondary Open State Oztag GD – Thursday, 27th August 2020
·       Primary State Oztag GD – Wednesday, 2nd Sept 2020
·       Secondary Open State Futsal GD – Thursday, 10th Sept 2020
·       Primary & Secondary 15&U State Futsal GD – Friday, 11th Sept 2020

Term 4 State Events

·       Primary State Biathlon/Secondary State Triathlon – Thursday, 22nd October 2020
·       Primary State Tennis – Monday, 26th October 2020
·       Secondary State Tennis – Tuesday, 27th October 2020
·       Prim/Sec State Softball GD – Wednesday, 11th November 2020
·       Primary State Yr 3/4 Basketball GD – Monday, 23rd November 2020
·       Primary State Yr 5/6 Basketball GD – Monday, 30th November 2020

The CSSA COM have not made this decision lightly but hope this will give schools clarity for the rest of the year.

This decision has been made in conjunction with our State Convenors after working through venue COVID Safety Plans which are very limited and restrict participation numbers.

This also means that THACCCCSA Zone Sports have to be cancelled for the remainder of 2020.  Cancelled events are:

Term 3 THACCCCSA Zone Events

·       Secondary OzTag Gala Day
·       Primary Zone Oztag
·       Primary Champions League AFL

Term 4 THACCCCSA Zone Events

·       Secondary Super 8’s Cricket Gala Day
·       Primary Zone Basketball
·       Primary Coles Cricket

Obviously, this is extremely disappointing for our students as well as ourselves, however, it is important that regulations are followed.

If the curve in the ‘second wave’ flattens quickly, the College will look into the possibility of holding some one-off matches against other schools in some sports.
