Ethan’s Year 12 woodwork major project is a unique foosball table with innovative features like storage and a table-like design. He faced challenges with time management and ordering materials but learned to adapt and enjoy the process. Woodwork at our college offers an exciting, hands-on experience, making it one of the more enjoyable subjects for students.

Beau Jackson discusses his major work in Design and Technology, a unique coffee table embracing imperfections. He highlights the learning process, including fixing mistakes and the importance of double-checking work. Beau values the character these imperfections bring to his project. He for a career in carpentry, electrical work, tiling, and construction, crediting his current skills to his teachers, Mr. Sanchez and Mr. Peters.

Alexander is crafting a minimalistic TV unit from blackbutt timber in his woodwork class. Despite challenges like tricky dovetails, he perseveres with guidance from Mr. Sanchez. Alexander values the memories made in year 12, cherishing friendships and teachers. Post-graduation, he plans to build a matching coffee table for his TV unit, ensuring he has furniture for his future home.

I endeavoured to construct a wooden coffee table addressing the need for functional space in our upstairs living room, offering storage and a table surface for my brothers and me. This table features a sliding top for accessing the base, allowing safe placement of cups and plates. Its design prevents damage to surfaces and provides storage. Initial time constraints stem from logistical errors. I aim to retain and use the finished table in my future home. By optimising production processes and incorporating machinery, mass production becomes feasible. This project combines practicality and design, enhancing usability while holding potential for scalability.

My Year 12 Industrial Technology major project centers on constructing a bench seat and a coffee table for my outdoor fireplace area. These pieces are meticulously designed to fit a specific location, catering to the backyard’s aesthetic and purpose. The bench seat incorporates storage and weather protection for outdoor pillows. Crafted from sturdy Merbau wood, I’ll use a blend of mechanisation and hand tools for enhanced strength. The addition of natural timber stain enhances the wood’s natural beauty. Stainless steel hinges are employed for durability in our coastal setting. The coffee table, featuring resin-infused Australian Hardwood, showcases modern design with versatility for both indoor and outdoor use. This project not only fulfills my love for the outdoors but also blends practically and aesthetically with our new home’s surroundings.
