Creative Arts News

Monday, 4 Nov 2019

On Wednesday, 30 Oct, Years 9 – 11 TAS and Creative Arts students took part in our yearly exhibition and performance event – SPOTLIGHT. The night was a huge success, with great attendance to appreciate the hard work of both students and teachers.

Work from Design & Technology, Industrial Technology, Visual Arts and Photographic and Digital Media were on display in a wide variety of forms including painting, drawing, bronze sculpture, film, colour photography, laser cutting and timber. Attendees were given the opportunity to vote for their favourite in the selection of Year 8 drawings on display.

Performances took place in the College hall and comprised of Year 9 and 10 Drama and Year 11 Music. The standard was so high this year, with thoroughly enjoyable performances throughout the entire concert.

Well done to those performing and exhibiting students, and congratulations to our wonderful staff who brought it all together.

Primary Instrument Trial

Last Friday, Years 2, 3 and 4 students were given the opportunity to participate in an instrument trial. The purpose of the trial was to give young students a chance to try the instruments that make up our music instrument ensembles here at BCC.

Some of our Secondary student ensemble members played an integral role in the trial, helping students to learn the basics of making a sound on the instruments – many thanks to Rebecca Wigney, Imogen Wylie, Alex Rogers, Daniel Culjak, Mia Sandstrom-Knight, Lauren Irvine, Riley Brown, Naomi Wright and Jordan Delaney.

We look forward to seeing these young keen students growing in their love of music and instrument playing in 2020.

Instrument hire and music tuition are available at the College, please contact the College office for further information.
