Welcome Back
Welcome back to Belmont Christian College for 2021. We especially want to welcome our new families joining our community this year. We hope you enjoyed your holiday break with family and friends and are ready for another College year.
The beginning of the year means there is a lot happening at the College. This newsletter provides helpful information to get you started in 2021.
Our College website is a great place to visit for all things BCC. Make sure you check out the Transport page and Parents Directory along with our Uniform page, and Community Hub. As well, there is always so much to see over at our College’s Facebook and Instagram.
Beginners, Years 1 – 7, 11 & 12 return 8.40am on Wednesday, 27th January. Primary students will meet in the assembly area under the shade sails near the carpark. New Primary families will meet outside the College office. Year 7 will meet in the Multi-Purpose Building (Hall), Year 11 and 12 will meet in the Library. Due to COVID restrictions families (except parents of Kindergarten, Year 7 and New students) will need to use the ‘Kiss and Drop’.
Kindergarten, Year 8, 9 & 10 return 8.40am on Thursday, 28th January. Kindergarten will meet in their classroom at their scheduled time. Year 8 will meet in the Multi-Purpose Building. Year 9 and 10 will meet in the Library Theatrette. Due to COVID restrictions families (except parents of Kindergarten, Year 7 and New students) will need to use the ‘Kiss and Drop’.

Stationery Requirements
Kindergarten and Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2) students will be provided with classroom stationery. This includes coloured and lead pencils, scissors, textas, pencil cases etc. All exercise books will be provided.
For Stage 2 (Years 3 and 4) and Stage 3 (Years 5 and 6), students should bring the following to use in class:
– 2 fine blue pens
– 2 fine red pens
– 2 HB lead pencils
– sharpener with a shavings container attached
– highlighter – colour of choice
– 12 textas (Connect are excellent)
– 12 coloured pencils
– fine black felt tipped texta
– a ruler that is not metal or has a metal bar embedded in it
– glitter pens/textas (optional)
– a pencil case that fits under their desk – & the above items should fit into the pencil case
– earphones/buds for ipad or Chromebook

Stationery Requirements
All Secondary Students will need to have a fully charged College issued Chromebook and a pencil case of pens, pencils, eraser, highlighter etc. Everything else is provided in a book pack issued to Years 7 – 10 on the first day. A calculator is provided for Year 7 ONLY.
For new students that have not purchased a Chromebook please do so as soon as possible by ordering online here

Canteen Information
College Canteen
Canteen service is available each day of the school week. Our Term 1 Canteen menu will soon be available from the Canteen, the College Office and on the Skoolbag App.
Lunch orders can also be placed on-line by registering at MunchMonitor using code: belmontcc and password: munch2280. Orders need to be placed by 9am.

Creative Arts Information
Welcome to 2021! We are so pleased with the exciting opportunities available in our co-curricular music this year.
Firstly, I am very happy to introduce to you our new Secondary Music Teacher, Mr Jacob Neale. Mr Neale is an exceptional musician and brings fresh vision and energy to our Creative Arts program. In addition to teaching Stage 4 Music and Stage 5 elective classes, he will be our music director for College Musical Peter Pan and our band leader for Secondary Concert Band.

Bus Transport
A range of buses service the College. Information on the catchment area, routes and timetables can be found by visiting our Transport page on our website.
Bus pass applications and updated information need to be completed online. The application will be endorsed by the College and then the Opal Card is mailed directly to the address provided on the application.
Before and After School OSHC
A before and after school care program is provided on site through Camp Australia. The service is available from 7.00am to 8.40am and 2.50pm to 6.00pm each school day.

Parent Volunteers
Parents/Caregivers have many opportunities to assist the College in a variety of ways. Opportunities for parent/caregiver help include sports coaching, community garden, working bees, canteen and excursions. Notices requesting help regularly appear in the College Newsletter.
Please note that all volunteers who assist at the College must undertake and provide to the College Office a current ‘Working with Children Check’ and complete a Volunteer Booklet which is available at the Office and on the Skoolbag App.
Due to current COVID restrictions we are only able to accept Canteen volunteers at present.
Medical Action Plans
If your child has a medical action plan, please contact the Administration Assistant for your Primary or Secondary school student at the College Office so that the management plan can be implemented or updated for your child.
Manage Your Tuition Payments from anywhere
Belmont Christian College is now using our Student Management System, Sentral, to manage our school fees. School fees statements and further information will be emailed in the next few weeks where you will be able to register and set up your payment plan. Sentral Parent Portal gives you more payment options and greater flexibility to break up your payments over the course of the year. Make your tuition payments more manageable, in your time, and from wherever you happen to be. Please contact our Assistant Business Manager, Mrs Michelle Mazzantini, for further information.
Sport Information
Swimming Carnival
Our Swimming Carnivals are coming up in Week 2 of Term 1. Our Secondary School (Years 7 – 12) will be held on Tuesday, 2nd February and our Primary School (Years 3 – 6) will be held on Thursday, 4th February both at Charlestown Pool from 8.30am.
Students are required to make their own way to the pool. College buses will be running from the College with limited seating for those who cannot make their own way to and from the pool. If you wish for your child to catch a College bus, please have them place their name on the bus rolls at the office.
The finish time for the carnival is approximately 2:20pm – please arrange pick up by 2:30pm. If this isn’t possible, have your child catch the bus back to the College to enable them to catch their normal school bus home.
Cancellation due to inclement weather will be advised through the Skoolbag app & Rhema FM or by calling the College office after 8am.

We have the absolute privilege of working with students who will benefit from extra support – whether through assisting with areas that need further development, or facilitating opportunities for students to explore and strengthen areas of giftedness, enabling them to flourish.
Students with particular needs that may affect learning are supported by our Student Services staff in a variety of ways, which may include small-group withdrawal lessons, in-class support and/or one-to-one support. Student Services staff can be contacted if you have concerns about your child’s educational needs.
If your child has a wellbeing concern their Primary Classroom Teacher or Secondary Stage Leader/Connect Teacher should be the first contact for assistance.
